I have been searching around and found dozens of tools at varying levels of maturity. I tried Abiword to do DOC and DOCX, but PDFs are no-go, and I believe it will be a PITA to deploy on a shared host.
I am therefore looking at stand-alone programs which can take command-line parameters and returns via stdio. What are the choices you guys swear by?
