The Acer (32-bit) Laptop was bought in Dubai with Windows Vista (home) installed on it, about +- 4 years ago.

The Laptop is now in South Africa and have trouble connecting to wireless networks that are operating well.

The sollution I want to try again (didn't work the first time) is as follows:

  1. Successfully install service pack 2 (for windows vista home 32-bit) on the laptop.
  2. Check wireless connectivity and if it is still not working try and update the driver for the wireless card.

Is this a possible solution?

Are there 32-bit Windows Vista home Acer laptops (or computers) out there successfully using wireless cards with SP1?

I think you need to narrow down the problem before you start trying to patch it. Blindly applying service pack upgrades and patches without actually knowing what is wrong will not necessarily fix your problem. What happens when you try and connect - any error messages, what exactly do they say? what type of wireless card do you have? what type of security are these access points you are trying to connect to using? have you tried updating your drivers? Simply put, we need a lot more information before providing a solution or confirming that upgrading to SP2 will do anything at all. – MaQleod Aug 21 '11 at 21:19
