I need a software to present the structure of a website, for example the hierarchical relation between pages and what content they offer.

The purpose of this is to generate a scheme of a website for scientific material.

Any idea how this is normally done?

I guess you're searching for a web crawler – m0skit0 Aug 22 '11 at 18:54
Do you want to manually create it or have a software generate everything for you? Which operating system are you on? – slhck Aug 22 '11 at 18:54
No, my idea is something manual. The website at the moment is just a prototype. I found this writemaps.com but i prefer a desktop software. My system- Windows or Linux – Wire Creation Aug 22 '11 at 21:01

Google's sitemap generator is pretty good, and it allows automatic updating as well if you change the content of your pages or add/remove pages.

I don't have the site complete... – Wire Creation Aug 22 '11 at 21:02
It doesn't matter - you can still use it with your pages even if there are two. Download the source and just let it roll. – Sudipta Chatterjee Aug 22 '11 at 21:09
Yes, but i need to plan all the structure, even without the real pages. I think the best alternative is writemaps. Anyway, Thanks – Wire Creation Aug 22 '11 at 21:16
