We distribute an add-in to our clients. I have had a client who has not been able to load our Add-In. After failing to diagnosis the issue I asked him to try to load the Solver-AddIn and he is getting the same error message (just the filename/path is different)

Microsoft Excel cannot access the file'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Library\SOLVER\SOLVER.XLAM'.

There are several possible reasons:

The file name or path does not exist.

The file is being used by another program.

The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

I have Googled for this and the only thing I can find suggests we contact MS Technical Support. We are about ready to do that but I wanted to check to see if someone else has had this problem.

I want to note that we tried moving the AddIns to different locations but get the same error message varying only in the path to the AddIn.

Have you tried the Office Repair features? What OS? Does the user have Admin access? Do they have access to the folder(s) you are trying to load the add-in's from? – techie007 Aug 24 '11 at 20:57
Not tried office repairs but did do a new install of office. Yes they have Admin access and appear to have access to the folders in that they can open, add things and delete things from the folders. – Burch Kealey Aug 25 '11 at 11:33
