I have a Dell M1330 laptop (Intel Santa Rosa Platform) with a GM965 + ICH8M chipset running at 667 MHz FSB.

  • My original processor was an Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 @ 1.5GHz native to 667 MHz.
  • I upgraded it to an Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4400 @ 2.2Ghz, which is native to 800 MHz FSB but it works without problem on my laptop.
  • I would like to upgrade (again) to Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 @ 3.0Ghz which is native to 1066 MHz. All referenced processors are Socket P compatible.

Will the upgrade to T9900 work like upgrade to T4400?

I do not think this will work. After looking at the Intel Ark for the T9900, it shows that the only compatible chipsets are the GM45 or PM45.

It sorts of surprises me as the T4400 is a newer (lower end) processor than the T9900, but, I guess there is something they have done that makes it not compatible.
