I use Firefox with 1600 bookmarks. I have many interests and bookmarks in many categories. I have 250 webdevelopment bookmarks, 150 language learning bookmarks, 50 cakephp (Article/plugin/links) bookmarks, 100 Youtube videos, etc.

I am wondering if I'm still managing the bookmarks well and effectively. I also would like an ability to easily discover good new bookmarks for my interests: becoming better webdeveloper, learn Turkish, learn other languages, learn more cakephp. Delicious seems a good tool to use and it's been extremely popular I've heard. I have only signed up this week though.

I see it has bookmarks integration and I was easily able to import my bookmarks. I selected 'private', since probably 10-15 bookmarks I won't want to share. I saw that when I added a bookmark in delicious, it was added in Firefox.

  • Can I have new Delicious bookmarks added in a 'Delicious' directory, so I know I have to sort these bookmarks?
  • And is there a way to obtain tags into Firefox from Delicious?
  • If I add a bookmark in Firefox, I have to rerun the import tool to synchronize or will it automatically be added as a private bookmark on Delicious too?
  • Any more tips for managing 1600 bookmarks?

It seems many people have abandoned using bookmarks and by far most only have 20-50 bookmarks and I even hear people say there is no need to bookmark with Google around.

With 1600 bookmarks however, it forced me to rethink my directory hierarchy. And I'm still not completely happy with it, but so far I'd hate to only use tags for having structure in bookmarks.
