I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NR498E running Windows Vista Home edition. After restoring the system to the factory state, my CD/DVD player stopped working. It does not recognize any CD/DVDs. The drive is shown but if I click on it, it opens the disc tray and keeps asking me to insert media.
I've tried many different things like removing and reinstalling the driver, running Microsoft Fixit, and applying some registry fixes that I found online but nothing works.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is? How can I fix it?
