I need to instruct individuals how to email issues to IT and include screenshots. They do things in very ridiculous ways, that "get the job done".

So, I get emails that read.

Do not know why this is happening, can one of you tell me how to fix?
Every time I enter data and scroll or hit enter or tab to move
to next line up or down I get this halt- Whenever you have a second please

Attached to this was a PDF document created from a screenshot that was opened in paint, the user printed from paint to a PDF, the possibly scanned the paper copy and emailed me that.

I want to respond, and explain the correct way to contact IT. I don't want to write an email that sounds angry or is belittling.

Something along the lines of..(With out angry tones)

  • Please include the application you are using.
  • Include a full screen screenshot
  • please provide actual detail
  • stop printscreening to paint, then printing to pdf, then scanning the printed pdf then attaching.

So, you want us to write you an e-mail? :/ If you're on Windows 7 you could try Problem Step Recorder (psr.exe) which will take a capture of the desktop than can be emailed to users. – tombull89 Sep 8 '11 at 14:45
You can write a script in AutoIt that loops until a window that fits defined criteria (ie "error" in title) pops up, then have it take a screenshot and email you with the image and details about the computer it was sent from. – MaQleod Sep 8 '11 at 15:12
