I currently have two Nvidia video cards in SLI:

  • 012-P3-1470-RX

  • 012-P3-1470-AR

These two are almost identical in terms of hardware. My motherboard supports three video cards in SLI and I was wondering if I get a third card how similar in terms of hardware/model number does it have to be in order to still work correctly?

What are the actual cards, Brand, Model? I think with the newer card mixing them is allowed if they are VERY close. Not absolutely sure though. – Solignis Sep 21 '11 at 6:12
Im wondering if adding this card would be too much of a difference newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130590 – krsunny Sep 21 '11 at 6:48
i wouldn't try it. your switching from the 470 fermi to the 580 fermi...i think they all have to be 470, but i haven't tried it – aking1012 Sep 21 '11 at 7:02
