Last week I got me a Samsung Tablet with Windows 8 pre-release (at Microsoft's conference). It came with 1 year of pre-paid AT&T 3G broadband wireless. So I cranked it up, created an account, activated the SIM card per the AT&T handout.

Now I want to gift the tablet to a friend of mine, so I need to re-install the OS to wipe out personal information.

My question is this: will the SIM card need to be reactivated after OS installation? The reason I am asking is because I lost the instructions/code for SIM activation.

Reinstalling the OS should not affect the SIM card at all. Just like how when you reinstall the OS on a smartphone it still works, or how you can move the SIM card to another phone and use it there.
