My story: I have finally found a workaround to my overheat problem. CPU undervolting.
There is an application which does the thing for me, for the users. Called "CPUGenie".

Sadly (or not?), it is not free, and the development stopped about a year ago. That's why, I don't want to buy the software. (No, I won't torrent/pirate it, whatever, I want to support people who makes great softwares, I just don't want to waste my money on something that won't get updates, won't get fixed.)

So. Are there any other softwares for CPU undervolting? (It's fine if it just reads out the ACPI values.)

RMClock seems to be an interesting alternative, though I'm not convinced it is any more supported than your current solution. I can't see anything higher that a Core2 CPU on their supported list.

From this screenshot it looks like it at least supports the undervolting you require.

Check out this guide: The "Undervolting" Guide

I can't seem to find anything else at the moment, I'll try and have another look later.

Sadly, that software stopped receiving updates after ~2008 or so. :( – Shiki Sep 25 '11 at 9:25
Most things I can find on the internet seem to make vague references to either using the BIOS or motherboard supplied overclocking tools to apply the undervoltage. I can't find anything else apart the tool you suggested and the tool I found. Sorry. – Mokubai Sep 25 '11 at 10:22
No prob, thanks for trying! – Shiki Sep 25 '11 at 10:28
