I have a document that requires very specific margin sizes around the page, say 1 inch all around. This is easy to set up. However, within that margin space, I need to have my name right-justified at the top of the page, within that 1 inch space.

How is this done in Microsoft Word? Specifically, Word 2010.

Make the paragraph margin on said text negative.

I'm not sure how to do that. – wallet Sep 29 '11 at 23:36
Select the paragraph, right click -> paragraph, there should be a right indent option there somewhere, put a negative number in the box. – digitxp Sep 30 '11 at 0:46
This doesn't move it up above the top margin, but this works for the right/left margins – wallet Sep 30 '11 at 0:53
Top margin, you have to drop it in the header. – digitxp Sep 30 '11 at 10:10

That space is called the Header. Adjust your margins to allow for a header, which will be under Page Layout/Page setup/Options. Or just double click into the header.

Isn't it the case that when you add a header, it adds a large chunk of extra space at the top of the page? – wallet Sep 30 '11 at 12:18
The header margins are separate from the body margins. – surfasb Sep 30 '11 at 17:08
