I have been using NetMeter 1.1.3 for a few years now and it's good. But it's missing something that I need, a way to filter the packets. I've been using PS3 Media Server to stream media from my PC to the PS3 and NetMeter is counting the uploads from the PC to PS3. Is there a way in NetMeter or another program that's similar to filter packets based on destination/source IP or something?

I don't want it to count data usage within my home network (192.168.*) and only count those from the Internet.

DU Meter can do that. (actually, if you set it to monitor "Internet traffic only" it will automatically filter out 192.168.* traffic, but more flexible filtering is also available). DU Meter can also act when you exceed your preset monthly limits: email you, stop all internet connectivity, etc.

Example DU Meter notification message:

Note: I'm affiliated with Hagel Technologies, maker of DU Meter.

Is there a way to backup Du Meter data and/or import data (such as from a CSV file)? –  Jack Nov 16 '11 at 22:02

Yes. Database Management tab in the Options dialog will let you backup/restore... And the backup file is actually a CSV file. –  haimg Nov 16 '11 at 22:07

Ah I see. That works. Do you also know where the log file is stored in Windows 7? I tried looking in Program Files, ProgramData, and AppData folders but I can't find anything. –  Jack Nov 16 '11 at 23:34

The best software that I have ever used is NetLimiter.

PS: I am not in any way affiliated with the software
