When I'm using Notepad or simply just the Internet, my keyboard works fine. As soon as I open Microsoft Word, it changes. The symbols are no longer the same. When I go into the keyboard layout, there is only one option. I don't know how to fix this, anyone have any suggestions?

How is it different? minor changes, or totally different? what font is microsoft word on? – Journeyman Geek Oct 2 '11 at 23:51
@Amy What symbols are they? Type some affected text in Notepad and in Word and edit your question to include the samples. What font are you using in Word? I'm assuming you're on Windows - what version (XP, Vista, or 7)? – CajunLuke Oct 2 '11 at 23:53
Yeah, first guess is that Word is defaulting to an odd font. Or perhaps you have a non-standard keyboard and Word isn't recognizing it? Do you have a standard English QWERTY keyboard, with ~!@#$%^&*()_+ across the top? – DanH Oct 3 '11 at 0:06
