There are a number of log files in .local/share/gvfs-metadata. When I backup using backup2l, some of these generate error messages. However I cannot view these files with gedit. Any suggestions as to how I might see them?

Update: I can see the files using less - they are reported as binary. I have tried viewing the files with gnome-system-log but this shows nothing.

I have seen that one can delete all files in gvfs-metadata without harm. But if the logs are produced then surely there must be some application that can view them?
