I have multiple virtual machines running, and any one of them may at some point in time be required to accept microphone input near instantly (e.g. Skype running in one VM and Google Talk running in another, though in practice I'm looking at say 10's of VMs).

My question is, is there a way to have all of the virtual machines use the same physical microphone simultaneously? VMWare Player for example gives me a message along the lines of "the following devices can be connected to this virtual machine using the status bar or choosing the 'Devices' menu: ... ... Each device can only be connected either to the host or one virtual machine at a time".

Even if it's a virtual microphone solution (perhaps a Linux equivalent of Virtual Audio Cable?) that would present to the computer a whole set of microphones which are all linked to the same physical device, and then I could hook each virtual machine up to its own virtual mic.
