I use Hamachi mostly for gaming and found an article on LifeHacker describing how to encrypt browsing using Hamachi and Privoxy. Tried it out with Firefox and my public IP was still the same on whatsmyip.org as it was before I installed and configured Privoxy to use my Hamachi IP, so I started to look into setting up Windows Remote Desktop with Hamachi.

My issue is that I'm on my laptop, I have a desktop but it doesn't have a wirless adapter nor an ethernet port, yeah it's ancient, so I've been trying to accomplish this from only one machine. When I try to connect to RMD w/ my Hamachi IP I keep getting errors like:

Your computer could not connect to another console session on the remote computer because you already have a console session in progress.

I'm guessing this is because I'm attempting to connect to the same computer. RMD is on and configured properly with Windows 7.

So is it possible to use my Hamachi IP as the primary IP websites see w/out having more than one computer connected to my home network?

Please help, I've been trying to do this for the past 5hrs with no luck and I don't feel comfortable giving my original IP to a proxy service.
