Recently my USB devices started periodically go crazy. At some point they start turn on/off very fast and not register any input. Reconnecting the devices doesn't help. The USB headphones have get weird electronic noise when this happens. Since my keyboard/mouse are also USB I loose the control over the system and have to restart every time this happens. But I'm sure that the system doesn't hang/crash when that happens.

I was wondering if this kind of problem could be caused by one of my devices or is it the USB controller/motherboard? How to troubleshoot?

What OS? What kind of PC / laptop? Also: Do you have "USB Selective suspend" enabled in power settings, in the current power plan you use? – Shiki Oct 8 '11 at 19:05
