Recently I have changed my office computer from WinXP to Win7, which I can quite satisfied, as the CPU changed from core duo to i5.

I have created a doc file from Word 2007 and linked to a txt file with about 20000 rows of data for mail merge, I deliberately use doc format because the things to be merged is a link to series of GIF files, which docx files does not support it.

Before I switched to Win7, I used WinXP for mail merge and usually after some filtering process, the output come out almost instantly. But in Win7, it's getting slow. I need to wait for the filtering screen to come out, I can even see the statement in Word 2007 that a certain number of row of the data file is now being processed.

I have googled and found someone shared similar problems as I do, but I can't find any solution there.

Can anyone here help?
