What are free webbased mail providers out there that have a relatively decent interface, and don't ask stupid questions while opening a new mail ?

By stupid question I mean:

  • "what is your mobile phone number?" (gmail <-- I love them, but I'm deeply dissapointed by that policy),
  • your previous mail (lot of them, yahoo for example <-- why do you think I have a previous mail if I'm opening a mail account),
  • lot's of cryzy security questions ("What is your favourite color?" <-- seriously, I don't know!).

No, I don't intend to send spam; just need a new mail from time to time, and always find myself annoyed by one of the above.

Where does Gmail ask for your mobile number? – Breakthrough Sep 3 '09 at 1:26

Right at the beginning, while opening a new acc. Try opening one, you'll see. (it is a relatively new policy, maybe last 6 months or a year, at most) – ldigas Sep 3 '09 at 1:28
google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mail I don't see it... – Breakthrough Sep 3 '09 at 1:30
Fill that, and click on "I accept". – ldigas Sep 3 '09 at 1:31
I just made a new account and it didn't ask me for anything but my name, username, password, country, security question, and a captcha. – Breakthrough Sep 3 '09 at 1:33

Hushmail - no questions asked!

choose a username and a passphrase, confirm the captcha and you're good to go.

(just uncheck 'encrypt' if you want to send a unsecure email)
