I am having this fairly strange problem:

I have a Linux system-image tarball of a system that uses GRUB2 (it's an Ubuntu 11.10 image with lots and lots of customization).

My Live-USB-Thumbdrive is still GRUB (1) and so are all my other, older images.

If I boot into my Live-USB-Thumbdrive system, prepare the hard drive, untar my systemimage (that of the GRUB2 system) - how do I install the GRUB bootloader?! I don't have the necessary tools and .img-files grub-install (and grub-setup) need and I can't switch the Live-USB-Thumbdrive-System to GRUB2...
