Am looking for a feed aggregator/e-mail client (preferably all in the same application) with the following features:

  • Works on Linux and Windows
  • Able to download linked web pages (in whole or in part) for feed items, similar to NewsFox
  • Able to easily forward e-mails as attachments
  • Works with POP3 and IMAP

These features would also be nice, but aren't essential:

  • Open source
  • Able to batch forward e-mails

Anything you guys can recommend?

Have a look at Inbox2 Desktop. It's an open source project & should fit your needs.

Doesn't seem to work on Linux. :-( – nonoitall Oct 30 '11 at 2:33

I suppose Mozilla Thunderbird will get the job done. Also there is plenty of additional addons.

I'm not aware of any way to make it download a select portion of the target web page. Any add-ons that would enable this? – nonoitall Oct 30 '11 at 2:32
