I have Windows 7 ultimate on my Dell laptop. When I put it in sleep mode and battery is very low, it automatically goes to hibernation mode which is fine. But when I hit on the power button with cable connected, the hard disk led does not light up and the screen is blank and after few seconds it starts beeping which probably means the battery is low.

I wonder why this happens because the power cable is already connected. Then when I hit the power button two times, it will resume normally. Any idea how to fix it? I guess workaround is to make it shutdown when the battery level is critical but there should be a better solution.
