I usually use UltraEdit which is great at allowing custom languages, but their FTP tool sucks!

I like to edit my files directly on the server in a project directory and not on my local box. Lately, I've found the FTP tool in UltraEdit to be more of a headache as I make changes frequently. Aptana Studio is great for this but their syntax highlighting sucks.

Is there a way I can super customize my syntax highlighting the way I like and with the words I want to use, rather than a predefined set?

Alternatively, is there an awesome editor out there that does both custom syntax highlighting with a built-in solid FTP client for Windows?

Yes. It's open source. Go ahead and customize it however you want. – Daniel Beck Oct 28 '11 at 16:39
