I want to buy a tablet but not too sure which one because I can't find any information on booting options on tablets. I want a tablet which would be simple to install new OS on. For example new Android OSes and/or Windows OS, Ubuntu... Whatever OS I can find with support for touchscreens.

I also want to ask another related question. I believe there is no tablet with a DVD drive. Do they boot from USB drive? (I guess the ones I am looking for are be the ones with an option to load from a USB drive)

If you want to experiment with different operating systems, I highly doubt you will find any machine that is "easy". All operating systems can be a pain to reinstall.

As for optical drives, it depends on the tablet. Optical drives involve moving parts - more to break, added cost and weight - and apart from installing the operating system or watching a movie, not many people actually use an optical drive on a daily basis - for this reason, many machines do not come with them (especially as tablets are designed to be secondary/utility machines).

I can't really recommend anything special as shopping recommendation questions are not allowed here, but, rather than looking for new expensive machines, I would take a look at ~3-4 year old tablets that can be bought relatively cheaply... As long as you don't want Windows Vista/7/8, I am sure it will do just fine.
