Windows seven allows computer to wake up while being in hibernate/S4 Mode. For instance a task may be scheduled using Task Scheduler and computer wakes up to execute the task.

But according to Wikipedia, hardware is totally off when computer is in hibernate mode :

"Hibernation thus saves electrical power. After hibernating, the hardware is completely powered down (just like for a regular shutdown). Therefore a hibernated machine uses no more electrical power than one which is switched off. Meanwhile, hibernation is mean of potentially avoiding the burden of saving unsaved data before shutting down and restoring all running programs after powering back on."

I tested on my computer (w/ASUS P5Q Pro motherboard) and it does a real full reboot. I can see BIOS POST when computer goes out of sleep.

How can the OS use a timer to wake computer from hibernation while the hardware is totally off ?
