Print spooler failed to load a plug-in module

Question

win7-64 ultimate sp1, hp officejet g85xi

I keep getting printing failures, there is nothing wrong with the printer. Googling this hasn't helped - none of the forums have anything I find useful for this. It appears microsoft is distributing a bad driver for this printer. hp doesn't have a driver for it, they say the driver is included in windows 7. I guess I don't expect much help on this, microsoft never fixes anything like this, and there is no new driver to install.

C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\UNIDRV.DLL itself looks unusual in that the file info is in spanish.
