The hard drive in my Zune 120 has died and I'm thinking about repairing it. Of course if I am going to be repairing it I might as well see if I can upgrade it. But to do an upgrade I need to know what hard drives will work in a Zune 120.

I've found that whatever drive I use will need a PATA/ZIF connector but beyond that I don't have any other information. I would like to try putting an SSD into it (there are some 128GB drives on eBay with the right connection) but I don't know for sure if it would be compatible and I'd rather not lay out the $300 for one and then find out it won't work.

Does anyone know what my options here are (both for HDD and SSD)?

I would only buy from suppliers that verify their hard drive works in your Zune, I did much research when I got a used 30gb, and this site was the best suppler I found for Zune parts...rapidrepair.com/shop/zune-parts.html – Moab Nov 12 '11 at 3:27

personally, I would recommend buying a used Zune 120 on eBay and then salvaging the hard drive... – studiohack Nov 12 '11 at 3:28

Note: You will notice they post the exact model number of the hard drive on the Rapid Repair site, you can use this model number to shop for the best price elsewhere, but RR prices look pretty darn good. – Moab Nov 12 '11 at 3:37
