I'm running a HP laptop with an 'Atheros AR9285' wireless adapter.

My problem is that the internet is fairly constantly dieing.

Occationally it will last a few hours, but mostly its every few minutes I will just not be able to access any websites/games/chat etc.

The actual wireless connection seems to remain connected. I get a fairly steady 3-5 bars.

It's just that internet access stops.

Eg, C:\Users\JB>ping -n 100 209.85.147.106

Pinging 209.85.147.106 with 32 bytes of data:

etc.

I've tried changing the channel the router is using. But other devices seem to connect ok.

But then if I connect with a cable (its an ethernet over power conn) everything seems fine.

I tried installing NetStumbler to check out the signal, but it says my device is unsupported and wont give me anything.

Any ideas appreciated.

What does it look like when you ping the router? Also, how's the heat feel for your laptop bottom? – Victor T. Nov 12 '11 at 10:47
