I like to do a Win+R+ CMD + Enter but it doesn't run the command prompt in "administrator mode".

I am aware that I can "right-click" run as admin, however I was wondering is there anyway to make the CMD run automatically in administrator mode? (usually most of the things that I need to do with CMD requires admin access anyway)

The solution I use is to open command prompt by opening start menu, typing 'cmd' and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter. This will cause the selected program to be launched as administrator.

Is there an alternative that doesn't require "search" ? (because from what I know typing stuff in the box actually does searching) – Pacerier Nov 13 '11 at 12:36
Only other way I know is Luke's answer, disable UAC. The searching for cmd is pretty fast, can't even manage to hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter before it finds it. – Dracs Nov 13 '11 at 12:45
I do that all the time on customer computers. It finds CMD pretty damn fast – Luke Nov 13 '11 at 18:04
Will this load it as Administrator? – barlop Nov 13 '11 at 20:28
@barlop Yes, that hotkey (Ctrl+Shift+Enter) will launch the highlighted program in the Start menu as administrator. – Dracs Nov 13 '11 at 22:01

Actually, the only solution is what Dracs said above. This is because cmd cannot be set to always run with administrative privileges due to the fact that it's a part of the Windows system. Also, this keeps hackers away from executing automatically commands with admin privileges without you knowing it. So this is a good thing.

Follow Dracs advice and you should be fine with it :)

Do you mean that in retrospect other programs that are not part of the Windows system can be run default with administrative privileges? – Pacerier Nov 13 '11 at 12:35

The only other way, other than what Dracs mentioned, is to disable UAC completely
