I planning a new build based on CentOS 6.

Here's my hardware list:

  • AMD Phenom II x6 1190bl
  • Asus or Gigabyte motherboard based on 990FX chipset
  • At least 8GB or 16GB of RAM
  • SSD drive as a boot drive and standard HDD for storage

Which graphics card should I buy? I'd like to buy one compatible right out of the box... Any suggestions?

Welcome! Unfortunately, shopping recommendations are off-topic for this site, as you can read in the FAQ and here: Q&A is Hard, Let’s Go Shopping! – slhck Nov 13 '11 at 20:56
I would probably suggest asking in the CentOS forums, more specifically the hardware support for CentOS 6, as that's probably a better place to get information. – slhck Nov 13 '11 at 21:00

Here is a pretty generic way to get to the solution for that problem. I did not think that it were that difficult with RedHat. But I would wait for CentOS 6.1 any way. I found some disappointing problems, regarding graphic cards, were solved with 6.1.
