If a Company gets acquired by another company, can the acquiring Company use the paper licenses bought by the acquired Company in the past?

I am told that the OEM Licenses can be used as they are bought by the Equipment Manufacturer and are tied to the equipment.

Can someone please throw some light on this..

You'd probably have to talk to microsoft to be sure i suspect. If you were merging, this would be one of the natural things your IT team would have to look into – Journeyman Geek Nov 14 '11 at 9:25
I think the only answer can be it depends. You're best asking your ICT team. OEM you should be ok but IANAL. – tombull89 Nov 14 '11 at 9:28
This is a legal problem and therefore off topic. – Daniel Beck Nov 14 '11 at 9:31
To the O.P., in general, yes. So long as the software licenses are valid and the terms have not been breached (i.e. installing the same copy of Windows on multiple machines), there should be no problems. If one company overtakes another, they are in legal possession of all assets. – Breakthrough Nov 14 '11 at 12:44
