What I have is a computer that I have configured and 20 others that need this same configuration. I want to use imagex to get an image of the computer and then apply it to the others with minimal input. The only differences are going to be Windows keys (7 and office).

When creating an image file, it seems you have the image already created to make an image file. I don't have the image created yet because I want to run the sysprep with the answer file.

What am I missing? Can I just use a base Windows 7 CD and use the base image on that to make the answer file? These are HP laptops that came preloaded with Windows 7 so I don't have a disk.

You should look into the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit. It has documentation on this... – Tom Wijsman Nov 16 '11 at 13:49
