I'd like to build a NAS (FreeBSD/ZFS or DragonFly BSD/Hammer) but server components are rare (few options, quite expensive) where I live so I want to use desktop components specifically AMD AM3+ motherboards with 6 or more SATA3 ports and support ECC memory.

I have tried searching some forums in the past and the system builders usually don't get satisfactory answers from the vendors about ECC memory supports on AM3+ motherboards.

Examples: Overclocker's forum.
