I'm building a new home file server and am considering using WHS 2011. However, the sole storage on it will be a Drobo (2nd gen, 4-bay) with 6TB of storage of which about half is used. When I used the original WHS I vaguely remember that adding drives to the "pool" meant everything on them was erased. Is this still the case or can I just plug in my Drobo and all the data will just be available?
On a side note: If I plug in a secondary drive for backup of the drobo, will it let me not add it to the network view-able pool and just automatically backup data from the drobo to it?
