Wich category is more energy efficient? (I'm talking about energy used for computation only)

Can you provide some figures for computational power and power consumption for Smartphones and PC or servers?

Thanks :)

Isn't this like asking which is more efficient: a Prius or a Supertanker? (talking about energy used for propulsion only). "You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face. " - See FAQ – RedGrittyBrick Nov 17 '11 at 16:20
I don't see phones hooked up to 1000watt power supplies so I am pretty sure Smart phones are much more energy efficient. – qroberts Nov 17 '11 at 16:38

I'm talking about computational power per watt, not just how much energy they use. I know a server needs more energy than a smartphone. I'm not as idiot as you may think. – Paolo Nov 17 '11 at 16:57

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. See the FAQ for guidance on how to improve it.

Generally the ARM processors used in smartphones have better MIPS/watt than PCs. There are a few companies looking to build ARM servers to bring low power computing to the server room.
