I'm looking for a script or application I can install onto my synology diskstation to organise the MP3 files downloaded via an RSS feed.

I'm wanting it to shift the mp3 files from a single directory into subdirectories by artist/album.

I've seen some GUI based ones built into some music players, but not command line that deal specifically with this problem. Any hints?

Hi i've not tried this but have been wanting to for a while, its a client server setup and the client is a terminal (possibly Ncurses ) music player.

The server is Music Player Daemon (MPD) is a music player server. http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Music_Player_Daemon_Wiki

ncmpcpp is terminal based mpd client

You can easily wrap a script which use some ID3 tag extractor like eyeD3 or id3v2 or the more generic exiftool if present. See this question and the answers for reference.
