How do I make my USB printer simulate a COM port?

I tried the solution here: How do I simulate a parallel (LPT) Printer with a USB Printer?

… and I got this error message:

"the network resource type is not correct"

Any help on this?

I'm not sure that's possible. You need to explain why you want to do this as well as what kind of printer you're using. – Agrajag9 Nov 22 '11 at 16:52

im running windows xp and a program called eagle business solutions. it's a labeling software and i use the cognitive tpg advantage dlx printer. it just prints a 2"x4" label. – carson Nov 23 '11 at 17:41
