Every time I startup my Mac it plays some music from a video program I watched. I've deleted the file and removed it from the trash, but it still plays. The only programs open is Firefox.

Please add more detail. Does the sound play immediately when you turn it on, when it displays the login screen, when it shows your desktop? Are you the only person using that Mac? Are you using Mac OS X or Windows? Is it a very distinctive sound or can it be something different? Does it happen every time you start your Mac? Does it also happen when you quit Firefox before restarting your Mac, or select to not restore windows when restarting from the Apple menu, so it won't also launch at start? – Daniel Beck Nov 27 '11 at 12:09
Also, what does the "Login items" tab in System Preferences » Accounts say? What is checked there? – slhck Nov 27 '11 at 13:46
Thank you for the responses - I had a closer look and now I realise that it was a Firefox window being restored on startup, and it had a music component playing. In addition, I checked the system preferences/accounts and found some hidden items which I disabled. That wasn't starting up the music, but good to know what's going on behind the scenes when one starts up. Thank you again for reading and responding. Kind regards – Shelley Nov 27 '11 at 15:44
