Perhaps what I'm after doesn't exist.

Is there a good remote desktop client for Linux that properly supports multiple monitors? I'm not talking about VNC, but Windows-style RDP.

I fired up Vinagre but there was no way to change it's default 800x600 resolution, let alone dual monitors. Remmina gave me custom resolutions but not dual specific monitors (the Windows RDP client, by comparison, will treat each monitor as a separate "virtual" monitor, so each can have a different horizontal and vertical resolution for example.)

Are there other alternatives I should try?

You could try with rdesktop -f youriphere but the last time I tried I just got a session that covered both screens, not the splitted/independent screens that we get on Windows RDP client.

Yes, that's what it still does. Same with xfreerdp as well. :( – Joe Dec 3 '11 at 1:51
