I replaced my second monitor on Windows 7 64-bit. I removed the old one in the Device Manager, and installed again with the correct .inf file.
Device Manager shows the correct monitor, as does the Display Adapter properties page. However the Screen Resolution Control Panel applet still shows the old monitor name and type, and won't let me set the display resolution to the new panel's native resolution; I can only choose the old panel's resolution. The display adapter's List All Modes dialog also doesn't include the new panel's actual resolution.
I've been trying to figure out where the old panel's information is cached. I've searched the registry and the Windows tree, and I've changed video card types. I'd rather not reinstall Windows, but I can't think of anything else to try. Does anyone know where and how to clear the old monitor's configuration?
