I'm in the market for a 3D monitor setup. I've decided on active technology (originally considered a passive monitor) and I'm using an NVidia graphics card so the obvious option is 3D Vision.
Looking around, one of the most talked about seems to be the ASUS VG236HE. While it looks very good, I've still got my doubts about the restrictions of such a purchase. In particular the fact that I would need some form of active glasses purchase, 3D Vision, which is only compatible with a PC.
Today I stumbled across this: Acer GN245HQ http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/monitors/3dmonitors/et.ug5he.015.html
Now, from a simple search of the name it seems "old" with articles appearing from Feb-Mar time. Similarly reviews are fairly old (not many appearing later than May-Jul).
I guess my question is, this monitor seems a lot better than competitors and yet it is so little talked about. It is £100 cheaper (presumably because the 3D Vision prism is built into the monitor), it has good specs, reviews (although old) do seem good (best crosstalking results out?). Also, it will work with other 3D devices! Only other I've found like that is a new 27" Asus. http://3dvision-blog.com/review-of-the-27-inch-asus-vg278h-3d-vision-ready-lcd-monitor/
Am I missing some crucial disadvantage with the Acer? I appreciate the Asus is better (bigger, lightboost, etc) but my budget won't stretch that far, so as a cheap (very much cheaper) alternative, will the Acer make me happy?
