First, I am not talking about computer usage or program access. I'd like to know if there is a way to restrict the amount of time that a user is able to use a program for. I have Win7 Home Premium. I'm pretty sure this doesnt come out of the box with Win7 but I would be willing to install an app if one existed.

For a little context, I love gaming but I tend to overindulge and neglect reality when I find a game I like. I'd love to be able to set limits like "I can only open Starcraft 2 on weekends" or "I can only run Starcraft 2 for 4 hours a week" or something like that.

Also a good therapist to help with gaming addictions is welcome :)

If you set it up, you could always disable it. You are looking for a technical solution to a fully-human problem (look for the therapist you mention). :) – techie007 Dec 11 '11 at 19:32
@techie007 Yep. I fully realize that its a human problem. I can be disciplined for a lot of areas of my life but gaming seems to be a particular weakness. Consequently, I find myself alternating between playing too much and uninstalling everything and not playing at all. Just wondering if there are any technical tools I could use to find a happy medium :) – Jeff Dec 11 '11 at 21:04

No, there is not, given that the user has physical access to the computer.

With the parental control built-in functionality. Take a look at this tutorial .

Parental controls restricts the time of day that the account can be used, not the amount of time a specific program can be used. – Chris Dec 11 '11 at 20:55
