Why is it that some blog owners don't put advertisements on their blog? What do you think could be the reason?

Are they blogging (with no ads) because:

  1. just for the love of writing
  2. self-expression/personal development
  3. expand professional contacts and grow in their field of expertise

Although there are many free blogging platforms, I find it a waste if you would not include ads to your blog, but not in a way that makes your blog site messy and disorganized. The amount of money generated by the ads might be useful in the long run. Don't you think?

Share your thoughts please!

In my experience adding ads made a blog a target for spammers and hacker who wished to poison the ads. I was managing two Wordpress blogs for users with similar numbers of hits, one with ads, one without. Both blogs only got low thousands of hits per month so the money that was coming in from the ads only just covered server hosting costs. Even at that low rate of hits the blog with ads was getting visits from hackers trying to redirect legitimate ads. The one without was being left alone.

If the ads were pulling in hunrdeds of pounds a month maybe we'd stick with them, but until then, no thanks.
