Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but...

I hace a user running system Windows Vista.

Last week I had to renew and got Norton 2012 Internet Security software.

However when I Install it I cannot connect to the internet.

I think that the Norton software is blocking Internet explorer, but as the Norton Control Panel is a ‘on line’ active type programme, I cannot open it online to change the settings

I have tried other browsers (Google Chrome & Firefox) and still have the issue.

If I remove the Norton program, connection is restored immediately.

I have tried turning off Windows firewall prior to installation also, but it does no good.

I think I need to change the firewall settings on Norton after installation, but I cannot access the control panel to do so.

Right clicking on the Norton icon in the system tray doesn’t work.

After installation it shows that Norton has taken over from Windows security as the Firewall of choice. Installed on an xp machine with no problems whatsoever. I tried the Norton Support site – but they pass you over to a ‘virtual support engineer’ who keeps asking the same thing and pointing me to the same answers

They have a self diagnose facility – which scans then goes on line to get a fix.

But as I cannot connect on-line it won’t work.

Internet connection is healthy.

All settings (proxy etc) are at default.

regards

Did you try the answer the Norton support provided? What was it? Have you scanned the system to ensure it's not infected with something? – techie007 Dec 12 '11 at 17:42
Another reason not to use Norton products, there are many free alternatives that are much better. – Moab Dec 12 '11 at 18:20
Are you up-to-date with patches etc? It wouldn't hurt, if you're not, to update to the latest Malicious Software Removal tool from Microsoft. Concur with techie007, have you tried what Symantec suggests? – Mitch Dec 12 '11 at 19:07
