I'm experiencing quite weird situation with the root folder of my main logical drive (C:), different applications shows "C:\" folder differently:
When I open it with WinSCP to copy some file from a remote machine it will show that new file appeared in the folder. I will not see that file in the folder from Windows Explorer or from FAR manager. If I call "dir" command from FAR command line when I will see it again.
If I will create file with same name in application where it's not seen (while seen in another application) it will be created w/o any warnings it will not replace hidden file. It in fact will create another file which will be unaccessible from some of another applications due to name collision.
To clarify:
1. I can create a file named 'newfile' with contents "WinSCP" in C:\ from WinSCP application it will not be visible or accessible from FAR or Windows Explorer.
2. I then can create another file 'newfile' with contents "FAR" in C:\ from FAR manager. It will appear in Windows Explorer and can be opened with Notepad.
3. WinSCP folder view will show file of size 6 (length of WinSCP string), but if I open it with WinSCP editor it will open a file with contents "FAR".
4. It's impossible to delete a file 'newfile' from WinSCP until it isn't deleted with FAR or Windows Explorer. Only after that it can be deleted, so TWO deleted are necessary in that case.
Can anyone describe this effect and why it happens?
