I want to keep my Inbox tidy by moving messages from certain people (or distribution lists) to specified folders (so the Inbox would only hold exceptions). I've set up a bunch of server-side rules to do this. However, whilst this is fine when I'm working in Outlook (I can use an 'Unread mail' search folder to process incoming mail), I'm often working via mobile. In this context, it's a real pain to check for new mail, because I have to trawl through each folder.
Wondering if there's a sensible approach for time-delaying those rules, so that messages stay in the Inbox for a week (two weeks, a month), and then are automatically filed. I don't mind hitting a button ("Run Rules Now!") to do this. I note that one of Outlook's rules is for messages "received in a specific date span", but this requires hard-coding of dates, and that would be awkward to manage for each of the many rules I have set up.
What am I looking at? Writing a macro? Forcing the rules to be client-side only, so at least messages received whilst I'm out of office will stay in the Inbox?
