I have a Windows Vista host/Linux Mint 12 guest (via Virtual Box). The virtual box has 32MB of video RAM and remote desktop activited.

When I log in from another Windows computer using Remote Desktop Connection (e.g. mstsc.exe as per the Virtual Box manual here), the following desktop environments work fine:

  • Gnome Classic
  • Gnome Classic (no effects)
  • MATE
  • Gnome (assuming the virtual box's 3d acceleration is off)

But when I try to login via RDC using Gnome with 3d acceleration on, all I can see is the Mint desktop background. I can't see the Gnome menu bar or any of the desktop icons.

I know that Gnome 3 is working because it works fine via the Virtual Box on the host computer. Any thoughts on what I need to change to be able to use Gnome 3 via RDC?
