I recently discovered that my Sony TV no longer wants to be found as a secondary monitor on my stationary computer. The computer runs on Windows 7 with a GeForce GTX 465 with two DVI outlets.

I'm using a HDMI to DVI from the TV into the DVI slots on the graphics card. It worked perfectly until a week ago, even a re-installation of Windows didnt solve this problem.

I even tried to connect the TV with a HDMI > DVI > HDMI to my newly bought laptop, and that did not work either.

It does however work perfectly with VGA - > VGA.

Has anyone encountered this or has any general tips and pointers?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: The computer has identified a secondary monitor, but it doesnt seem to be the TV. It's named "Display monitor on: VGA"

It sounds like that either that port or the adapter has died based on what you're saying. – kobaltz Dec 26 '11 at 19:28
