I'm setting a brand new out of box HP Tablet 520 with my HPOfficeJet Pro 8500A.

I'm trying to set it up the network folder feature of the printer where scans initiated from the printer are automatically sent to the tablet.

I've installed the software that comes with the box. The printer and tablet have had IP addresses synced and are both connected to the same network. Sending a print job or Starting a scan from the tablet side to the printer work.

I have configured the 4 fields to how I've done it with my other computers. Display name: all text and one word

network path: \*Computer name*\Users*user name*\Documents

user name: Computer name*user name*

password: appropriate password

I've already turned off the Windows 7's built in firewall.

Unfortunately, all I see when I go to save and test is: Invalid share. Click Ok to go Back.

Question 1) Is there any way to get a more specific error out of the OfficeJet? Question 2) Are there any other considerations that I might have overlooked?

In Network and sharing Center change your Network from a Home network to a Work network and then enable printer and file sharing on the work network. – Moab Dec 27 '11 at 3:04
